BELLE GLADE — Angel Miguel Silva, of Belle Glade, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Nov. 23, 2020. His Court of Honor was held on Saturday, March 27, at the Community United Methodist Church.

Angel is the son of Miguel Silva and Maria Rodriguez Silva. He is a member of Troop 622 of the Big Lake District in the Gulf Stream Council chartered to the Community United Methodist Church in Belle Glade.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project.

Angel earned 32 merit badges, and for his project, he completed a prayer garden with a small pavilion and bench dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel , patron of military personnel, police officers and first responders. The garden is located at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Royal Palm Beach.

Angel is a senior at Glades Day School, where he is a member of the football team, track team, FFA and NHS. He plans to attend Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton after graduation to study criminal justice.
