Special service planned at First United Methodist

Posted

IMMOKALEE — First United Methodist Church in Immokalee will have a service of joyous worship led by Abby Green, gifted granddaughter of Stephen Price, Sunday morning at 11 a.m. on Sept. 20. Seating is somewhat limited, but the service is open to the public.

“My Girl” was the first Song Abby ever learned to sing. When she was 2 `1/2 years old, friends and family would gather around to listen to her small, sweet voice sing the familiar old tunes. As soon as she was old enough Abby joined the children’s choir at First Baptist Church, where her father and mother (Kristin Price Green) are members, and her love for music began to grow.

In her primary years Abby took voice lessons, then piano and guitar. In middle school she competed in musical theater, receiving best in room for districts and superior ratings at the state level. Abby also won a scholarship at a local fine arts competition singing Italian. However, her passion was leading worship at church.

At 13, she was inspired to write at a youth church camp. By January 2019 she had written enough songs to record an album. She teamed up with producer Julian Sundby at the Fort Studios and got to work. Multiple industry greats contributed including Kent Slucher, James Cook, Jake Clayton and Mike Payne. Abby was star-struck and honored to learn from Kent and James when they traveled to The Fort to record with her.

Deep Waters was released in January of 2020. Locally, the public support was overwhelming. Abby began to book shows to promote the album. Her determination to grow this ministry is second to none. Abby is a straight “A” student, and an athlete. Her schedule is jam-packed, but she continues to find ways to play music. She has become a pro at doing her hair and makeup in the car as she races to sing at church, a block party, or even a hockey game.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the shows she had planned were canceled. However, our country needs this positive, God-filled message more than ever. Following are some Bible verses that have impacted her life and ministry:

Isaiah 4:8-2 When you go through deep waters I will be with you.

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Abby cannot wait to see where this gift will take her. She is eager to spread the good news and the love of God to anybody that will listen.
