Splash pad construction impacted by supply chain delays

Posted

OKEECHOBEE  -- The new splash pad at the Darrel Enfinger Sports Park has a new projected completion date of May 5.

At their Feb. 9 meeting, Okeechobee County Commissioners extended the contract Aqua Design Systems for the third time, due to   supply chain problems. Due to the unavailability of the mechanical pump and filtration system originally planned, all of the original engineered drawings and project packets require revision.

A Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant, which is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protect (FDEP), in the amount of $800,000  will fund improvements to the sports complex.

In addition to the splash pad, improvements planned include improved lighting, a new fitness trail throug the wooded area east of the tennis court, pool renovations, playground removations and tennis court rennovations,
