The Immokalee High School (IHS) Beta Club is celebrating its recent participation in the Alabama/Georgia Virtual Leadership Summit. It was announced that the IHS Betas qualified for the National Beta Convention in the following competitions: Service Snapshot and Rapid Response.

Typically, National Beta Leadership Summits bring together students from multiple states for events that span one or two days. During that time, students work with interactive speakers who engage members through introspective exercises and team-building activities. Clubs can also participate in team-based leadership challenges which test their communication, critical thinking, creativity, presentation, and collaboration skills.

While the Alabama/Georgia Leadership Summit, originally planned to be held in Georgia, was cancelled for in-person attendance due to health and safety concerns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, Beta Club members were able to work together to submit their challenges online and met virtually for interactive leadership trainings from motivational speakers such as Bill Cordes and Ted Weise. Their victories at this level provided the opportunity to compete at the national level. Therefore, the IHS Betas are headed to the National Beta Convention, scheduled to be held at the Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida, in the summer of 2021. If you’d like to support the IHS Beta Club in their quest for a national championship, please reach out to the school at 239-377-1800.

With more than 500,000 active members and 8,750 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta promotes the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. For more information, visit www.betaclub.org.
