OKEECHOBEE -- Recently some of our local teens stepped up in a big way to take the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office Teen Driver Challenge sponsored by the Florida Sheriff's Association.

This course provided students with classroom-based instruction and practical driving exercises to help them stay safe on the roadways while operating motor vehicles.

Members of the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office School Resource and Training Units presented the course. According to School Resource Deputy DeMarcus Dixon, all students who participated came in with open minds and positive attitudes towards the program, which caused everyone to have fun but educational experience.
