The Weekly Clothes Line ... Our “Propping up” from Sunday to Sunday

Posted

Another Thanksgiving is just a memory. The turkey is a pot of soup in the refrigerator, and the Christmas decorations are scattered all over the house, waiting to be put in their proper place.

Do you have special tree ornaments that bring a smile to your heart? I do, and every year the story unfolds before me as I take each one out of its box and hang it on the tree.

My favorites bear the names of all my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They each have a special place on the tree and as I hang each one, I give thanks to God for putting each one of them in my life. The world is in such a mess and some days it seems as if things will never be right again. But for those few moments, when I can just “be," remembering the joys in my life that are connected to those children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, time stands still. And I smile…

Don’t let the condition of the world, or any other pressing negative issue take away your Christmas joy. If some of your Christmas memories aren’t pleasant, replace them with the joy of that first Christmas, when the redemption of the world began!

It’s memories that keep us together. And as we begin this Advent season, take a breath and remember from whence you came, the Love that created you, and prepare yourself for the coming of that Love all over again this Christmas.
