The Weekly Clothesline

And the Word was made flesh…

Posted

Occasionally, we get freeze warnings in January and need to decide how to protect our trees and plants. Some plants need a secure covering; some can be lightly covered, but with most plants…we hope for the best. What if you were one of those plants hoping for life eternal and needing protection…which would you be? Totally unprotected…somewhat protected…or completely protected?

If you rest your hopes on your income, social status, and influential friends, you may be totally unprotected. Of course, such people can also be right with God, but sadly many put all their hopes in what they can get out of this life, and Jesus doesn’t have a chance to make a difference.

Then there are those who and somewhat protected. They find it difficult to commit to their faith. They struggle between living their faith and trusting in the ways of the world; they want it both ways. They never try to make a difference.

And then some are totally protected. The world and what it offers isn’t the most important thing to them. They believe in the promises. They trust in God’s plan. They know that whatever material wealth they have could be gone tomorrow. They are completely protected from all the negative elements in this life, and they put all their hopes and dreams in the hands of Jesus. Are you completely protected?
