OKEECHOBEE — Two women were arrested outside the Boost Mobile store Saturday evening after methamphetamine was reportedly found in the vehicle they were in. Tanya Leigh Law was arrested on outstanding Okeechobee County warrants, and Jonna Leigh Kimla was charged with two counts violation of probation, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Deputies Karson Reno and Ashley Waskiewicz were in their patrol car on May 22 at approximately 6:15 p.m. when they spotted Law, who had an active warrant out for her arrest. When the two deputies approached the vehicle, they found Law in the passenger seat and a second woman in the driver’s seat.

Law was immediately cuffed and reportedly told Waskiewicz she had a syringe in her pocket. The syringe contained a white chalky residue which field tested positive for Fentanyl and will be tested further at the crime lab, and Law will be charged with possession if the tests confirm Fentanyl.

As they were dealing with Law, an employee came out of the Boost store and asked the deputies for help, telling them a woman had locked herself in the bathroom and refused to come out. Waskiewicz was able to get the woman, identified as Jonna Kimla, to come out of the bathroom, and she was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car with Law.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a clear methamphetamine pipe containing a white substance that tested positive for meth. An open bag of unused syringes was also found.

After transporting the two women to the jail, Reno discovered a yellow tube shoved down under the seatbelt buckle. This was found on the side of the car where Kimla was seated the report notes.

Kimla’s bond was set at $5,750 for the drug charges, but she is being held without bond on the violation of parole charge.

Law was charged with six counts violation of probation.

The driver of the vehicle was not charged.
