United Way of PBC’s activates Haitian Earthquake Response Fund

WEST PALM BEACH — United Way of Palm Beach County, in partnership with United Way of Miami- Dade’s Operation Helping Hands activated a Response Fund to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The South Florida community is saddened by the news of the devastating 7.2 earthquake that struck Haiti Aug. 14. This is the largest earthquake to hit Haiti since the magnitude 7.0 earthquake devastated the country in January 2010.

We are collaborating with our partners to coordinate response efforts, assess the needs and advise on the deployment of recovery and relief resources to the island nation.

One hundred percent of funds raised will go directly to help the people affected by the earthquake in Haiti and other affected areas. To support and assist affected families with the needs created by this tragedy, donations can be made to Operation Helping Hands. Funds raised will be used to purchase relief items and services needed in Haiti and affected areas during this time of crisis.
