Update on the 11-year-old girl found dead in LaBelle home

LABELLE - An 11-year-old girl was found dead in a LaBelle home on the morning of June 30, 2020, according to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.

At a duplex located on E Lincoln Ave. in LaBelle, a mother called 911 after finding her daughter dead in their home.

The landlord reported the tenants were an adult woman who was a single mom, her daughter, and a younger son. She also said that the young girl was diabetic, and had been in and out of the hospital due to diabetic complications.The mother called the landlord on Tuesday morning, saying she had found her daughter unresponsive.

Following information discovered during a warrant on Tuesday, deputies continue to investigate her death.

Results of toxicology reports and findings from the Medical Examiner are pending. Investigators have not yet confirmed the cause of death.
