LAKE WORTH BEACH --- Treasure Coast job seekers will want to mark April 1 on their calendars to learn more about current postal employment opportunities that are both rewarding and challenging.

On Friday, April 1, the U.S. Postal Service will be hosting a free job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at  the Greenacres Branch, 4300 Jog Road, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33467-4110. Postal officials will be available to answer any employment questions and computers will be set up for onsite application for Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) positions in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Fort Pierce, Jensen Beach, Lake Worth Beach, and Okeechobee, FL.

An RCA will have a continuous, part-time job with a reliable employer. This on-call position could be ideal if you are retired, self-employed, an at-home parent, an educator, night student, or if you are employed on an evening shift schedule.

RCAs perform a vital function in the Postal Service, serving families and businesses in rural and suburban areas. They are responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of mail, working part-time when regular carriers have scheduled days off or vacation days. RCAs also                 sell stamps, supplies, and money orders. Applicants must have a valid state driver's license and demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record. They also may be required to use their personal vehicle.

Becoming an RCA is the first step on the path to becoming a full-time, regular rural carrier with full benefits. RCAs are immediately eligible to enroll in the USPS Health Benefits Plan with a Postal Service premium contribution. After completing one year without a break in service of more than five days, RCAs may also be eligible for health insurance under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB); dental and vision insurance through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP); Flexible Spending Accounts Program through FSAFEDS and long-term care insurance through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP).
