Vendors sought for Health and Safety Expo

Posted

OKEECHOBEE -- Okeechobee County is gearing up for the 15th annual Health and Safety Expo to be held at the Agri-Civic Center on Jan. 29.

At this time, the event coordinators are seeking vendors in the health or safety fields to join the expo. If you are interested in taking part, you can contact Chuck Akers at 772-260-9026 or at okeechobeecountyvolunteerfd@gmail.com or call firefighter Donny Arnold at  863-634-6464.

According to Akers, the expo serves between 2,500 and 3,000 each year. Everything is free of charge, including lunch! "Bring your family and spend the day," said Akers.

This year, they already have a great line up including face painting, a live DJ, helicopter landing and tours, yoga and Zumba classes, live fire demonstrations, the iconic Touch a Truck  and much more.

Of a previous event, Erin Moore of Shared Services Network of Okeechobee said, "The Expo made it possible for residents to receive flu shots, Hepatitis A vaccines, mammograms and brain screens all for free. In addition to the health screens it was wonderful to see hundreds of children enjoying themselves honking and climbing on all the trucks that participated in the Touch-A-Truck."

If your business or hobby is health or safety related, please consider joining in on this annual event.
