INDIANTOWN -- Indiantown’s village manager, Howard Brown, highlighted village challenges and accomplishments from 2021 as the fiscal year closed last week. He reflected on the uncertainty that permeated the beginning of FY2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic impacting the area. However, the village staff remained hopeful and confident in supporting businesses and residents.

Brown emphasized the finalization in purchasing the water and sewer facility, purchasing the Rhines property for $1.4 million to secure the future Village Hall and community center, and implementing “public engagement tools” to create public participation. One such tool is hybrid-public meetings that allow virtual village council meetings, special magistrates, budget workshops, planning, zoning & appeals meetings. Another engagement tool is the village transparency page.

Other underscored accomplishments were the continued improvements and repairs to roads, sidewalks, and the parks. In addition, Brown denoted the approval of the “extended community bus program and the codification of the Village’s Land Development Regulations.”

Brown said he was optimistic about the new fiscal year and thanked the village staff and community for their participation during the FY2022 process.
