OKEECHOBEE – At their June 8 meeting, Okeechobee County Commissioners honored the 2023 Chobee Volleyball Academy 15 and Under Team advancement to the 50th AAU Girls Junior National Volleyball Championship.
The team and their coaches recently completed a successful season in competition. The team won a bid to the 50th annual AAU Volleyball National Championships by coming in first at the AAU Winter Warm up in Deerfield.
The team will compete on June 18-21 in Orlando with 55 teams from around the country in the Club division for a national title.
The team will play 12-16 matches over the course of four days. This national tournament is considered the world's largest volleyball event which draws teams and college coaches from throughout the country as well as the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
The team includes Daniela Sanchez, Jadyn Jeune, Alyssa Madrigal, Lindy Harwas, Jenessa Arana, Preslynn Baker, Emma Pereira, Savannah Clements, Olivia Bartels, Tehya Nunes, Tatiana Flores, Head Coach LiAnn Whipple, Assistant Coast Monica Koger.
