Weinroth calls for school district employees to be vaccinated

Posted

PALM BEACH COUNTY — Vice Mayor Robert Weinroth announced today (Feb. 3) that the Palm Beach County Board of  Commissioners is asking the Health Care District and the Florida Department of Health to create a dedicated Point of Distribution (POD) site to vaccinate Palm Beach County School District employees 65 and older.

“We can’t lose sight of the fact that we have a population of students whose educational experience has been severely impacted since March,’’ he said. “We need to get them back on track as soon as possible.”

There are approximately 1,145 school district employees, including 479 teachers, over the age of 65.

“Our students are really deserving of an in-person education. Our educational professionals need to have the vaccination so they feel they can go back to work,’’ Weinroth said.

Weinroth’s motion to request the designated POD was unanimously approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
