NES hosts Trick or Treat
OKEECHOBEE — North Elementary School will host a Drive-thru Trick or Treat Family Night on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 6 p.m. Wear your favorite costume. Drive through the parent drop-off circle to receive a treat.
Church hosts concert
OKEECHOBEE — The Seventh Day Christian Church, 912 N.W. Park St./S.R. 70 W., invites the public to hear Ginger Howard along with Dennis and Judy in a gospel concert on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m.
Moose to host events
OKEECHOBEE — Moose Lodge #1753, 159 N.W. 36th St., WOTM Chapter 956, will host an Adult Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 31, with dinner at 5 p.m. and music by Mike Wolski from 6 to 9 p.m. Prizes will be given to first, second and third place winners. Diabetes workshop set
OKEECHOBEE — A free virtual workshop for Diabetes Self-Management Program will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learning topics include: monitoring, healthy eating, problem-solving, workinfg with health care providers and making weekly action plans. OKEECHOBEE — The City of Okeechobee will host a town hall meeting on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, 55 S.E. Third Ave.
Veteran dinner set Nov. 6
OKEECHOBEE — Free spaghetti dinners will be served to veterans and their spouses on Friday, Nov. 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Gathering Church, 1735 S.W. 24th Ave.

OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee Main Street will host the Festival of Trees on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Hospice of Okeechobee. OKEECHOBEE — The Clerk of Circuit Court Office, 312 N.W. Third St., will hold an Operation Green Light Virtual event Nov. 9-21. The Clerk’s Office will be open on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Extended hours will be in effect Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17 from 5 to 6 p.m. Okeechobee County customers with suspended driver licenses will have an opportunity to pay overdue court obligations, including traffic tickets, while saving up to 25% in additional fees to get their license back. Veterans dinner to be held
ORTONA — Glades County veterans are invited for a free spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Ortona Community Center, 2086 Ortona Locks Road, at 5 p.m. Social distancing will be observed, so seating will be extremely limited. These dinners will be served free to each veteran and his/her one guest who have submitted an RSVP. Please RSVP by Oct. 24. Ortona veterans ceremony set
ORTONA — The Ortona Veterans Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Ortona Cemetery pavilion. The keynote speaker will be Sam James. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. In the past, Farris H. Davis Post 299 American Legion out of Moore Haven held the ceremony, but the post has closed. This year, Aletris Farnam, Glades County supervisor of elections, and Glades County Sheriff David Harden are sponsoring the event. They will also be participating in Wreaths Across America on Nov. 19. Wreaths are $15 each or three for $30. You can drop off money for wreaths at the VFW Post 9528 in Buckhead Ridge at 29012 State Road 78, Okeechobee.

Reserve your holiday meal
LABELLE — The Salvation Army LaBelle Service Unit, 133 N. Bridge St., is now taking reservations for a Thanksgiving meal package. Once 150 families have been reached, they will stop taking reservations, or on Nov. 9 To reserve yours, call 863-674-1441. Distribution will be held on Monday, Nov. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. on the north side of the building. The meal will be served uncooked and will need to be prepared.

BELLE GLADE — Jumpstart’s Read for the Record brings together millions of adults and children around the world each year to read the same book on the same day in order to raise awareness about the critical importance of early literacy and access to high-quality books. This year Read for the Record will take place on Oct. 29.
This reading celebration will feature the book “Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away” by Meg Medina.

Virtual bingo games held
BELLE GLADE — West County Senior Center will host a virtual bingo game on Monday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m., at on 107.1 FM Gospel in the Glades and only on www.brotherchurch.com. Games are played each Monday over the radio and the internet. Adults over 60 can pick up one bingo card at West County Senior Center, 2916 State Road 15.
