OKEECHOBEE – The Okeechobee County Board of Commissioners honored the Okeechobee Bulls Mighty Mites (7/8 year old division) and the Okeechobee Bulls Senior Division (13/14 year old division) traveling football teams at its Dec. 2 meeting.
Both the Mighty Mites and the senior division completed successful seasons by participating in a series of playoff games around the state with Mid Florida Football to make it to the Mid Florida Football Super Bowl tournament in Lakeland on Nov. 13. Both teams brought home Super Bowl Championships in their age divisions.
Mighty Mites coaches are: Head coach Ja’Quan Bentley Sr., assistant coaches Delano Pryor Sr., Megan Evans and Marvin Newkirk. MacKenzie Hubbard is team mom. Players include Nehemiah Evans, Elakaih Collins, Lamar Futch, Delaneo Pryor, Ryker Miller, Kasey Hubbard, Julian Buerra, Ja’Quan Bentley, Noah McNeil, Tristin Robinson, Quitman Johnson, Makai Newkirk, Matthew Peaden III, Maddox Newkirk, Carmelo Merritt, Blayne Garcia, Harry Pineda, Semaj McIntosh, Braylen Hunsinger and Jaiden McIntosh.
“The players, coaches and parents have spent countless hours at practices, traveling to and from games to support their team,” the proclamations state.
The commissioners praised the players for their teamwork and good sportsmanship, noting they and the citizens of Okeechobee County are proud of them for their hard work and dedication to their teams.
