BBQ event benefits Glades Historical Society

Posted
Many of you have now heard of the Torry Island BBQ Showdown happening in Belle Glade, on March 2, 2024.   I’d like to give you this email as an update of what it represents for our area.  While the Torry Island BBQ Showdown started with a vision for tourism it was partnered with the intent to highlight the extreme need for a hotel in our area.  If you are in the market to build one or know of someone who is, THIS IS THE COMMUNITY! Torry Island BBQ Showdown has grown to something bigger than I ever could’ve imagined and I want to thank our sponsors and community leaders for helping make that so!

A bigger purpose My grandfather, Dr. Howard Hill instilled in me the concept of "less talk more action," H E Hill Foundation put those proponents to work with Torry Island BBQ Showdown.  I am very excited to invite you and your families to the event that the barbecue committee has worked so hard to bring into our area and to help change the conversation when Belle Glade Florida is mentioned.  It is the vision of our committee, City of Belle Glade and sponsors that Torry Island should be a destination for everyone in our state to experience. Torry Island offers unprecedented views of Lake Okeechobee.  There is airboating, fishing, biking, bird watching, golfing and first class camping. We are happy to host an event that highlights all those things and help the Glades Historical Society.

The event
For the first time in a long time, we have competitors and residents from the east looking west for an exciting event to fill their day with their families.  Our nationally sanctioned KCBS event has attracted competitors from all over Florida, Ohio, Iowa, South Carolina and more all with their eyes on over $18,000.00 in prizes.  In addition to a national BBQ competition we’ve brought a large airboat show, volleyball tournaments, cornhole competitions, merchandise / food vendors and LIVE music all day starting at 11:00 am.

How to buy and benefitting
I am humbly inviting you and your families out to a day of fun at the Torry Island BBQ showdown.  Buy your tickets now at Torry Island BBQ Festival (qgiv.com) , the H E Hill Foundation, Inc or the Belle Glade Chamber of Commerce. Please remember 100% of the proceeds and admission benefits of the Glades Historical Society (501c3).  Glades Historical Society has an ambitious goal of a NFL Hall of fame and increased electronic interactions at the Lawrence E. Will museum. Though advertising availability is now limited we are still accepting sponsors because every dollar counts towards helping them towards their goal.

Please share on your social media and with your family and friends.  Again tickets, registrations and merchandise vendors can visit BBQ Showdown (tibbqshowdown.com).
