Thoughts on Jan. 23 Pahokee City Commission meeting

Posted

The Jan. 23, 2024 Pahokee City Commission Meeting was yet another display of total embarrassment, unprofessionalism, and beneath the dignity of a public official by both Perez and Gonzalez. Perez’s outburst/cussing/unhinged tirade was from 1:44:55-1:48:25. Gonzalez tried to fight a member of the public from 2:44:50-2:45:50. The meeting can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/live/q9b5FUubF5c. The meeting has 1.2k views so far. Perez and Gonzalez’s words and actions were unjustifiable, pathetic, and deplorable. This is proof that they deserve to be voted out in March as this is not their first display of such behavior.

What Pahokee saw following the March 2020 election in the form of the Bohlen, Perez, and Gonzalez majority with the help of Brandenburg and by extension Thompson was a complete disaster. We witnessed a coup orchestrated by Brandenburg resulting in an illegal city meeting costing the city $74,000 in a settlement for said illegal meeting. We witnessed their handpicked Manager, Thompson, receive an OIG Report for illegal sale of city surplus property. There was not one substantial achievement by the then majority.

I look forward to having new elected officials after the March 19 Elections in their seats that are not working against the city, the administration, and the community from their dais position. Perez and Gonzalez have shown a consistent pattern of being unfit to lead, serve, and be stewards of the public trust.
