Cash reward offered for information about Thanksgiving home invasion

CLEWISTON — The Clewiston Police Department (CPD) is asking for anyone with additional information regarding a home invasion robbery that occurred on Thanksgiving Day to come forward. There is a possible cash reward being offered for tips or other evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of the offenders.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that a male was at his elderly mother’s home when two males knocked on his door and pushed their way through the door after he answered. After falling, at least one suspect began to strike him in the head with their firearm,” CPD explained. “As the violence was unfolding, the victim’s brother, who is a resident of the house, arrived home. Upon the brother’s arrival, the suspect’s stopped beating the victim, grabbed various items from the home, and then fled. Both suspects ran northbound from the residence. As the brothers began to chase the suspects, one of them turned around and began firing their weapon. The suspects continued running, and the victims lost sight of them.”

CPD officers and detectives canvassed the area, searched for witnesses and possible video of the incident. Their search led to a vehicle that was believed to be involved in the incident. From there, officers were able to identify a suspect.

“As a result of this investigation, officers developed probable cause to charge 22-year-old Darion Radcliffe with the following violations of Florida State Statute: home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft.” CPD also added, “Radcliffe was afforded all of the rights and privileges in accordance with Clewiston Police Department policy and the Florida State Statutes. Charges are merely accusations and Radcliffe is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.”

This incident remains under investigation and CPD reports that additional arrests are likely. Those interested in earning a cash reward for the information about this or another crime, call SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. Information leading to the arrest and conviction of offenders may qualify for a cash reward.

Tips can also be sent to: police@clewiston-fl.gov or you may call 863-983-1474 extension 206 to speak with a detective.

“We are grateful for all of the tips and video footage that has been provided thus far,” said CPD.
