CLEWISTON -- The City of Clewiston Board of Commissioners held a brief public hearing Sept. 13 to announce tentative city budget and millage rates for fiscal year 2021-2022.
The board approved in a 5-0 vote to tentatively adopt a capital and operating budget of $30,433,376 and a 6.5314 millage rate which became effective immediately.
The millage rate for 2020-2021 was 6.2847.
Commissioner Jimmy Pittman said he was disappointed the city didn't get to do the rollback millage rate this year.
"But I think its wise if we do have extra funds. I think theres plenty of infrastructure and other needs not ot mention putting back into the reserves that we had to use for obvious reasons," he said. "Otherwise I think were on the right track."
A comment period for the public and other interested parties was offered but no one addressed the board.
Section 166.241(3) Florida Statutes sets forth the requirement for municipal budgets.
Projected unrestricted revenues for the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget are $29,862,779, projected restricted revenues are $570,597, projected general fund expenditures are $10,355,025, projected enterprise funds expenditures are $570,597.
