TALLAHASSEE — Florida has documented 24,274 resident deaths and 383 non-resident related to COVID-19 as of Jan. 19 according to the Florida Department of Health. Since the start of the pandemic in March, 68,170 Florida residents have been hospitalized related to COVID-19.
In South Central Florida:
• Collier County: Collier County had 377 deaths related to COVID-19, with 1,358 COVID-19 positive residents and 22 non-residents hospitalized to date. According to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) 98 Collier County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19. Collier County hospitals have 14 of the county’s 85 ICU beds available.
• Glades County: Glades County had 12 deaths related to COVID-19, with 64COVID-19 positive residents to date. According to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) no Glades County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19. Glades County does not have a hospital.
• Hendry County: Hendry County had 53 deaths related to COVID-19, with 289 COVID-19 positive residents and 2 non-residents hospitalized to date. According to AHCA five Hendry County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19. All four of the county’s ICU beds are available.
• Highlands County: Highlands County had 232 deaths related to COVID-19, with 478 COVID-19 positive residents and 13 non-residents hospitalized to date. According to AHCA, 63 Highlands County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19. Only one of the county’s 24 ICU beds is available.
• Lee County: Lee County had 729 deaths related to COVID-19, with 1,970 COVID-19 positive residents and 48 non-residents hospitalized to date. According to AHCA, 160 Lee County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19, and 17 of the county’s 141 ICU beds are open.
• Martin County: Martin County had 228 deaths related to COVID-19, with 602 COVID-19 positive residents and five non-residents hospitalized to date. According to AHCA, 28 Martin County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19 and five of the county’s 22 ICU beds are open.
• Okeechobee County: Okeechobee County had 56 deaths related to COVID-19, with 295 COVID-19 positive residents and 15 non-residents hospitalized to date. According to AHCA, 26 Okeechobee County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19. All eight of the county’s ICU beds are in use.
• Palm Beach County: Palm Beach County had 2,037 deaths related to COVID-19, with 5,296 COVID-19 positive residents and 75 non-residents hospitalized to date. According to AHCA, 412 Palm Beach County residents are currently hospitalized related to COVID-19 and 90 of the county’s 398 ICU beds are available.
