Hendry County Road Watch Report

HENDRY COUNTY — The following column is the Road Watch report for Hendry County for the week beginning Sunday, Nov. 5, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

• US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at various locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: (Construction project) Crews will be adding sidewalks along the north and south side of US 27, the east side of San Luiz Avenue, the west side of Berner Road, and on US 27 extending north along Ponce De Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Avenue to Balboa Plaza. Additional work includes drainage improvements and resurfacing the intersection between US 27 and Berner Road, side streets, and turnouts. During sidewalk construction, pedestrian detours will be in place; please follow signage. During construction there may be lane closures on Berner Road, San Luiz Avenue, Royal Palm Avenue, and Ponce DeLeon Avenue. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.

Motorists should expect northbound and southbound lane closures on US 27 at Berner Road on Wednesday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Crews will be switching traffic signals. Law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic during the operation. One lane in each direction may be closed periodically throughout the day.

Estimated completion is early 2024.

• US 27 from Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street: (Construction project) Crews will be resurfacing US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street, widening and paving road shoulders along medians, making drainage improvements and cross slope corrections, replacing guardrail, reconstructing ADA ramps to ensure compliance, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be lane closures on US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.

Motorists should expect lane closures on US 27 southbound outside lanes and northbound inside lanes throughout the project limits.
