Summer Splash at community pool

Posted

CLEWISTON — Children from across the Clewiston community will be on hand to dive in on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the grand re-opening of the C.S. Mott Community Pool. The aging pool was closed to make the necessary upgrades and conform with Florida’s swimming pool
codes.

Thanks to assistance from the people of U.S. Sugar, the pool has now been completely renovated. Clewiston kids of all ages are invited to dive into summer and the newly renovated pool, starting on Thursday.

For the last two months, workers have been refurbishing the area with new features including a diving board and slide, an upgraded filtration and purification system, and an advanced lightning detection system for up to 40 miles away. The new pool holds 150 people.

The pool first opened in 1950 and is currently the oldest municipal pool operating in Florida. The pool was named after Charles Stewart Mott, who founded U.S. Sugar in 1931.

Clewiston City Manager Randy Martin along with other community leaders will be there to kick off the festivities at 10 a.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
