MOORE HAVEN -- A Moore Haven Middle High School student has been arrested on charges of possession of a firearm on school premises and grand theft of a firearm.
On Jan. 25, the Glades County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), in conjunction with the DEA task force, conducted a narcotics canine search of Moore Haven Middle High School.
During the search, narcotics were located along with a loaded Glock magazine. The juvenile who owned the bag was subsequently searched and found in possession of a 45 caliber Glock pistol.
Upon further investigation, it is believed no threat to the school or the residents remains at this time, according to GCSO.
The juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to Department of Juvenile Justice for the charges of possession of a firearm on school premises and grand theft of a firearm.
