Scott asks officials, public to speak out against hate

Posted

Florida Senator Rick Scott says everyone should speak out against hate speech.

Scott, who was in Clewiston on Sept. 10 for the Florida Agribusiness Council Gala at the John Boy Auditorium, said the packets of antisemitic papers thrown in yards in South Florida neighborhoods over Labor Day weekend were disgusting.

“It’s vile,” he said. "It's disgusting."

“Every time I heard about it, I am vocal about it,” said Scott. He said elected officials and the public should speak out in opposition of hate speech whenever they encounter it.

Scott said he is concerned about reports of an increase in white supremacists, Neo-Nazis and other hate groups in Florida.

“We have to be more vocal about it,” said Scott. “Everybody has to be more vocal.”
