LAKE PLACID — For the first time in its history, the Caladium Festival will feature steam-powered passenger train rides! Known as the “Caladium Capital of the World,” Lake Placid celebrates the colorful blooming flower and agricultural heritage of Highlands County and routinely welcomes 20,000 visitors a year.

Trains will depart Lake Placid on Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29 at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. each day. Tickets are $25.

In addition, the Lake Placid Historical Society is auctioning off two cab rides for a trip aboard steam locomotive No. 148. Funds raised will benefit the organization and its historic Lake Placid railroad depot. For more details, visit lakeplacidhistoricalsociety.org.
