GLADES COUNTY -- A driver and passenger were killed and another driver seriously injured in a head-on crash on State Road 78 in Glades County on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 11:45 p.m. according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP report, a 31-year-old Moore Haven man was driving a sedan (vehicle 1) at the time of the crash. A 36-year-old Moore Haven man was a passenger in the vehicle.
A 45-year-old Okeechobee man who was driving a SUV (vehicle 2) was seriously injured.
The FHP report states:
Vehicle 1 was traveling south on State road 78, south of Access Road.
Vehicle 2 was traveling north on State Road 78.
Vehicle 1 entered the northbound lane of State Road 78. The front of vehicle 1 collided with the front of vehicle 2.
Vehicle 1 rotated onto the grass shoulder and came to rest. Vehicle 2 came to rest on the State Road 78 travel lanes.
Both the driver and passenger of vehicle 1 were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of vehicle 2 was transported to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
