The Clewiston 12U All-Star softball team has earned a spot in the 2022 Babe Ruth Softball World Series happening on the Treasure Coast from July 19-27.

The 12U All-Stars advanced to the World Series tournament after winning the Babe Ruth Florida State Championship on June 27.
Clewiston opened the state tournament with a big 14-2 win with Brooklyn Sergent getting the start on the mound. Brooklyn allowed just one hit and two runs over three innings.
The 12U All-Stars followed that win with a 5-4 victory over Chiefland. The game was tied 1-1 until Lydia Lee hit an RBI single in the second inning to put Clewiston up. Clewiston stole nine bases on the Chiefland defense. Then, in the semi-finals, the All-Stars beat an undefeated South Orlando squad 10-5.
In the state championship game against Lutz, Clewiston rallied back from being down 6-1 in the early going to claim the state title and earn a ticket to the World Series.
According to the Clewiston Youth Baseball and Softball League, this is the first state championship ever brought back to Clewiston.
The team is currently holding a raffle to help raise funds for the trip to the Babe Ruth World Series on the coast. Raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for five tickets. Some of the prizes in the raffle include a four hour guided fishing tour for two on Lake Okeechobee with DJ Timms, K2 Summit 70 quart cooler full of goodies, and Yeti Roadie full of mini goodies.
