Ernest Bernard

Ernest, of Lehigh Acres, FL, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023. He was born on December 25, 1949 in Dame Marie, Haiti to Marie Edithe Linding and Saint Elise Bernard.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 43 years Monique Bernard and his children: Sagine Joseph Bernard, Steevens Bernard, Stania Bernard Louisme (married to Kenel Louisme), and Stecie Bernard. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Andy, Alana, Savannah, Amia, Sanai, Kolton, Janae, Serenity, Skyler, and Avery.
He grew up with a tight-knit group of siblings: Elmancita Renois (deceased), Idalia Bernard (deceased), Lydie Linding Jacob, Alberte Linding ST Elien, Marcilia Severe, and Claude Linding.
Ernest was a devoted husband and father, a beloved grandfather and a respected member of his community. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1986 and settled in Miami until relocating to Immokalee in 2001. Following his retirement in 2012, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to engagement in his church community. Specifically, he has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 2013. He was a leader in the Haitian community of Our Lady of Guadeloupe Catholic Church, leading and contributing to the work of multiple committees.
Ernest is remembered fondly for his kind, gentle spirit and his servant leadership. He never missed an opportunity to serve and will be dearly missed by all who were touched by his light.
Viewing & Wake will take place at 7pm on Friday, January 12th at Riverside Church, Fort Myers. Funeral arrangements will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 13th at Our Lady of Guadeloupe Catholic Church in Immokalee, FL. Burial to follow at Lee Memorial Park.
