FORT MYERS — As students prepare to return to school, it’s important that they focus on their studies, not where their meals will be coming from. To help food-insecure children in the local community, Air Pros USA donated 120 backpacks to the Southwest Florida Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization dedicated to getting children the nourishment they need. The organization will stuff each backpack with kid-friendly, ready-to-eat items and hand them out to students on an upcoming Friday so they have food over the weekend.

Air Pros USA is a local heating, ventilation, and air conditioning service company that is proud to serve the community. This donation will provide 120 children with new backpacks that they can use during the year for books and get filled with nutritious, quality food to support their development and growth.

“Just as we are dedicated to serving our customers, we are passionate about serving our local communities and finding new ways to give back,” said Anthony Perera, founder of Air Pros USA. “No child should ever go hungry, and we feel it is our responsibility to help nonprofits like Blessings in a Backpack, that do so much in their fight to end child hunger right here in Ft. Myers.”

As a leader in the movement to end childhood hunger, Blessings in a Backpack strives to ensure children do not go hungry on the weekends by empowering individuals and communities to act.

“We are thankful for Air Pros USA’s donation and dedication to being actively involved with the community because we share the same passion for our children’s future,” said Cecilia St. Arnold, Executive Director Blessings in a Backpack SWFL. “With the donation of these backpacks, Air Pros USA is helping our organization prepare kids in need with the tools to succeed in school.”

There are over 60,000 food-insecure children in Southwest Florida. The Southwest Florida Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack provides food to over 5,000 children in Lee and Collier County every week.
