IMMOKALEE - After living and thriving in Baltimore, Jonas Mervilus, founder and owner of the employee assistance program, MySpeedyX, has returned to his home town of Immokalee, in order to give back to the community he holds close to his heart. He has been busy working on developing various projects that will help promote diversity and equity throughout Immokalee.

He recently announced he would be kicking off of a $3.6 million dollar Dr. Strange Scholarship Program in Immokalee that will promote youth Entrepreneurship. Any student from 6th to 12th grade, who want to learn about becoming entrepreneur would be eligible for the scholarship.

Mervilus also shared that he would be helping to fund a new festival in Immokalee, that he hoped would grow to be a successful annual tradition, “$10,000 will be allocated for a Tomato Festival annually to highlight the beautiful taste of Immokalee with a festival that will celebrate diversity.”

He went on, “With the leadership of William L. McDaniel, Jr., County Commissioner, and Dr. Ed, Pop Warner President, MySpeedyX will also provide a donation of $22,500 to provide a Scotty Scholarship, that will allow any qualified youth to play for free for the Immokalee Pop Warner Team. Mervilus explained, “Yes!!! Pop Warner will be free for all who comply with the understanding that we are doing this for the kids and will require the support of Immokalee. A major Thank You to Bo Bails Bond for the continuous support and guidance.”

“MySpeedyX will also launch the The Immokalee Association with support from the Rotary Club of Immokalee and Immokalee Chamber Of Commerce,” Mervilus added. The Immokalee Association is a proposed board of directors from all different backgrounds, that plan to come together to make all of these and future projects a success.
