OKEECHOBEE — If you like your Florida adventures a little on the wild side, Gatorama is just the place for you. Located in Palmdale, Gatorama is home to alligators, crocodiles, snakes and more.

You can enjoy your experience up close and personal by taking part in a Fast Hands Feeding Challenge or by meeting a python and learning about its habitat.

If you prefer to use a little more caution in your adventure, you can watch someone else feed the gators and crocodiles every day at noon or 2:30 p.m. free with paid admission.

If cuteness is your thing, Gatorama has a baby gator pod where the tiny tots ready themselves for the world. Don’t be fooled though, some of them can already put a hurting on you if they try.

Gatorama is home to Goliath, nicknamed Killer Croc. According to the website, “Goliath came to Gatorama in 1968 as a young adult. He spent the first 25 years living in the front pond, socializing with the older Crocodiles and Alligators. Over time, Goliath began to establish his dominance over territory and animals in the pond. 

In the process, he killed many Alligators and Crocodiles. Anyone that dared challenge him, would be challenged with a fight to the death. It was determined that for the good of the entire colony that Goliath needed to be isolated. 

Plans were made to move him to a pool where he would be comfortable and unable to kill any more of the endangered American Crocodiles. This is where Goliath lives today. To date, no other Crocodile has been as deadly an Apex Predator as Goliath. This has earned him the name ‘Killer Croc’ and makes him Gatorama’s deadliest animal on record.”

Have you ever seen a Kinkajou? Gatorama is home to some of these as well as to a bobcat, tortoise and a snapping turtle.

Gatorama is open daily from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The tickets are $12.50-$25, and season tickets are available.
