Hilda was a 1972 graduate of Malone College in Canton, OH and received her masters from the University in South Florida in the 80’s. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for family businesses and taught for many years, both in the classroom and as a Media Specialist. She worked at LES and COES; and upon retiring from Hendry County Schools, she said she would dearly miss the students she taught as she loved them all. Not one to sit at home, she left retire-ment to become a City Commissioner for the City of LaBelle, an offi ce she loved holding and serving for 15 years. She attended the Central Church of Christ in LaBelle. Hilda was a faithful Christian and loved her family. One of her daily activities was studying scripture and she enjoyed reading through the Bible yearly. Hilda also took preserving the generational history to heart as she worked on many albums detailing family memories. She loved having visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress, owning her own shop at one point, and crafted and crocheted for over 80 years. Survivors include her two sons: Ron (Flora) Zimmerly and Michael (Michelle) Zimmerly, one daughter: Tina (Rene) Hernandez, brother in laws: Daniel (Donna, deceased) Zimmerly, David (Barbara, de-ceased) Zimmerly and Jim (Carol) Zimmerly, sister-in-law: Lillie (Er-nest, deceased) Steffen, thirteen grandchildren including Christopher (Jessica) Zimmerly, Jonathan Zimmerly, Angela (James) Mad-dox, Gregory (Kimi) Zimmerly, Erica Con-nelly, Erin (Luke ) Myer, Elesa Zimmerly, Ethan Zimmerly, Anthony (Chelsey) Hernandez, Joshua Hernandez, Daniel (Alexandria) Hernandez, Keilani (Barry) Jordan, Alex-ander Hernandez, and twelve great-grandchil-dren (Benton, Bethany, Marcus, Mavis, Ellison, Colt, Levi, Rene’, Kaysen, Sadie, Beatrice, and Magnolia). She was preceded in death by her brother: Arthur (Linda) Berg and sister in laws: Ida (Denver) Welty, Bes-sie (Albert) Harder, Lydia McClintock, Ruth Zimmerly, and Lester (Lou) Zimmerly. The family would like to thank those who visited with her during her recent stay at LaBelle Health and Rehab, and thank you to the wonderful staff who cared for her. Hilda will be greatly missed but family and friends can take comfort in knowing that she is resting peacefully with our Lord and Savior. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
