Arcadia man dies in SR 70 crash in Highlands County

HIGHLANDS COUNTY – A 27-year-old Arcadia man died Wednesday night in a State Road 70 crash in Highlands County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

The FHP report explains a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was traveling west on SR 70, near Robert McGee Road (west of Lake Placid in Highlands County) at 10:13 p.m. on June 28. The SUV traveled off the roadway right, and entered the north grass shoulder. The right side of the SUV collided with a concrete utility pole.

The passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver, also a 27-year-old Arcadia man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
