CLEWISTON- Clewiston High School cross country coach Jay Similien has been elected to a Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) advisory committee on cross country.

Similien will be replacing Andy Holmes from Seffner Christian Academy, whose term expired in June.

"Thank God for another opportunity  and thanks to all those that entrusted me to represent Clewiston and all schools in our region,” said Similien after the announcement.

As part of the committee on cross country, he will play a vital role in voicing recommendations, guidance and advice regarding the sport in the state of Florida, as well as any concerns regarding the state series.

CHS cross country is set to hold their first home meet of the year on Oct. 21. Tiger runners will compete in Clewiston Sugar Run Invitational on Oct. 21 at CHS. After that, the district cross country meet is set for Nov. 4 at Lemon Bay High School.
