CLEWISTON — Clewiston First United Methodist Church welcomed close to 30 teachers new to our community along with their administrators on Friday, Aug. 5, at their annual new teacher luncheon. This event has been celebrated for over 30 years and was brought about this year by donations from Sunshine Family Medicine, the H.E. Hill Foundation and generous church members. Glades Orthodontics and Jimmy Pittman electrical provided gift bags for them as well. The new teachers were each blessed with $75 gift cards from the church to purchase classroom supplies or other items they need. This year Faith Lutheran church joined in to help provide food, a welcome and door prizes of gift cards for local eateries. Three hand painted stools were also donated for door prizes by local artist Mary Thomas.
