PALM BEACH COUNTY — District 6 County Commissioner Sara Baxter has announced that she will host a Motorsports town hall on Wednesday, June 21. The event will commence at 6:30 p.m. at the Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center, located at 151 Civic Center Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411.

This town hall follows a unanimous County Commission decision to approve the redevelopment of the former Palm Beach International Raceway site into an industrial warehouse complex. The raceway site, an iconic venue that attracted generations of racing enthusiasts since 1964, was closed in April 2022 due to financial losses.

In the wake of this decision, Commissioner Sara Baxter proposed the exploration of potential county-owned sites suitable for a new racetrack. She has initiated this town hall to engage community members, stakeholders, and motorsports enthusiasts in a discussion about such possibilities. County staff has been directed to return with feasible options by October, opening the door to public-private partnership proposals for the development and operation of a new racetrack.

Commissioner Baxter invites all interested parties to join the discussion about preserving Palm Beach County’s rich motorsports heritage and shaping its future. This town hall is an essential step towards achieving that vision and securing an exciting new home for the motorsports community.
