The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a dense fog advisory for Okeechobee County on Feb. 9 until 9 a.m. Visibility under a dense fog advisory may be reduced to one quarter mile or less.

“Ongoing widespread dense fog with visibility of one quarter of a mile or less will make for very hazardous driving conditions through mid to late morning before conditions start to improve,” reads the alert from NWS. “A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for all of east central Florida through 9 a.m. this morning.

“If out driving, be prepared to encounter reduced visibilities from dense fog, and those commuting are encouraged to leave early to allow extra time to safely reach their destination. When driving in dense fog, reduce your speed, use only your low beam headlights, and leave extra distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.”
