Education Foundation of Okeechobee director honored with Leader Award

OKEECHOBEE – Alaina Barron, Executive Director of the Education Foundation of Okeechobee, has been recognized with the prestigious Joe Rizzo Learner and Leader Award at the Consortium of Florida Education Foundation Fall Conference.

The Joe Rizzo Learner and Leader Award, named in honor of the late Joe Rizzo, former leader of the Flagler Education Foundation, is presented to individuals who embody a commitment to continuous learning, collaborative spirit, and exceptional leadership within the education community.

Speaking about the award, Consortium President Mary Chance stated, "Our late colleague, Joe Rizzo, led the Flagler Education Foundation until his unexpected passing in March of 2022. He saw the value of our network, was an avid learner, and contributed to our collaborative culture. Alaina exemplifies his spirit by investing in her own professional development while contributing her time and leadership to support her peers and our statewide organization."

Alaina Barron has consistently demonstrated her dedication to advancing education and sharing her expertise with others in the field. She regularly imparts her knowledge and insights with colleagues during quarterly conferences and extends her reach to statewide partners. Recently, she took part in the 2023 Talent Strong Florida Summit hosted by the Florida College Access Network, where she participated in a panel discussion focused on strategies to enhance college and career readiness in rural communities.

In addition, Alaina is actively engaged in her own professional growth as a participant in Leadership Florida Education Class 8. She also takes advantage of Consortium professional development opportunities to further enhance her skills and expand her network.

Receiving the Joe Rizzo Learner and Leader Award serves as a testament to Alaina Barron's exceptional contributions to the education sector. Her unwavering dedication, commitment to learning, and passion for empowering students have made a lasting impact on the Education Foundation of Okeechobee and the wider education community.
