BELLE GLADE — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 2:35 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, a 2001 Chevrolet Impala operated by Johntavis Simpson, a 28-year-old of Belle Glade, was traveling northbound on North Main Street within the inside lane of travel approaching the intersection of Northeast Avenue C.
An EZ-Go Club golf car operated by Armando Rodriguez, 94, of Belle Glade, was westbound on Northeast Avenue C stopped at the stop sign at North Main Street attempting to cross the intersection.
As the Chevrolet began to enter the intersection. the golf car accelerated into the path of the Chevrolet. The front of the Chevrolet struck the driver side of the golf car.
The driver of the golf car was ejected onto the roadway.
It was reported that Rodriguez was transported to St. Mary’s Trauma Center for injuries he sustained from the crash. On Oct. 27, Mr. Rodriguez was report to have died as a result of complications from his injuries, at 7:25 p.m.
