The latest: Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) commissioned its latest solar energy center, FPL Etonia Creek, in Putnam County, completing the company’s planned solar construction for the year.

2023 Milestone: In 2023, FPL commissioned 16 solar energy centers across the state, capable of generating enough energy to power approximately 240,000 homes combined. The company now has 66 solar sites in operation statewide. The new sites are:

• FPL Saw Palmetto Solar Energy Center – Bay County

• FPL Chipola River Solar Energy Center – Calhoun County

• FPL Flowers Creek Solar Energy Center – Calhoun County

• FPL Shirer Branch Solar Energy Center – Calhoun County

• FPL Anhinga Solar Energy Center – Clay County

• FPL First City Solar Energy Center – Escambia County

• FPL Wild Azalea Solar Energy Center – Gadsden County

• FPL Apalachee Solar Energy Center – Jackson County

• FPL Everglades Solar Energy Center – Miami-Dade County

• FPL Cavendish Solar Energy Center – Okeechobee County

• FPL Etonia Creek Solar Energy Center – Putnam County

• FPL Blackwater River Solar Energy Center – Santa Rosa County

• FPL Bluefield Preserve Solar Energy Center – St. Lucie County

• FPL Pink Trail Solar Energy Center – St. Lucie County

• FPL Chautauqua Solar Energy Center – Walton County

• FPL Cypress Pond Solar Energy Center – Washington County

• Solar energy requires no fuel to operate, which can help stabilize customer bills by removing fuel costs.

Community benefits: Each of the sites provides numerous benefits to the counties they operate in and the surrounding community, including:

• Hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual tax revenue, funds that can be used to enhance schools, infrastructure and emergency services

• Protection against urban sprawl

• No impact on public services

• No need for fuel

• Increased biodiversity and habitats for native wildlife

Introducing FPL SolarTogether®: Of the 16 new sites, six of them are community solar sites that support the FPL SolarTogether® program, which provides voluntary subscribers the ability to lower their electric bills with credits that increase over time.

• How it works: FPL SolarTogether® participants receive monthly bill credits for their share of solar energy produced by the company’s community solar sites.

• Customer credits grow over time to exceed the program cost and can help reduce their bills.

• All eligible FPL customers can participate regardless of whether they rent or own their home, apartment, condo or business.

• FPL now has 26 solar energy centers across the state that support the program.
