Glades commissioners to consider comp plan amendment, M-CORES plan, new fire engine

MOORE HAVEN — The Glades County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, with one pubic hearing on a Comprehensive Plan amendment set to start it off.

The public hearing is for transmittal to state regulators of the proposed Text Amendment to the Future Land Use Element of the Glades County Comprehensive Plan, which was brought about by commissioners to align current zoning with future plans for land development in the county.

Also on the agenda are:
• A resolution in support of the M-CORES Selection of the Southwest Central Florida Corridor — a strip of land that will be the site of a future toll road connecting Polk County with Collier and will run through Glades;
• An interlocal agreement with the City of Moore Haven regarding the Small County Surtax.

• A contract with the Florida Department of Health;
• A $30 surcharge transfer for the fiscal 2021 budget;
• Consideration of a list of properties from “Lands Available for Tax Escheats” to the county.
• An update on the SHIP (State Housing Incentive Partnership) Program, and two other SHIP-related matters;
• Awarding of the bid for the courthouse roof (RFP #01-2020);
• Consideration of plans for the Harney Pond Overlook tower;
• Review of plans for the annual Christmas Party;
• Discussion of legislative priorities for the 2021 session of the Florida Legislature and,
• Purchase of a new fire engine for Glades County Public Safety.
