Glades County Road Watch Report for week of Jan. 21

GLADES COUNTY — The following column is the Road Watch report for Glades County for the week beginning Sunday, Jan. 21, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

• US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line (Construction project): Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.

  • Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.

• SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line (Maintenance project): Crews will be reworking and sodding shoulder on SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line. No lane closures are expected but crews will be working near the travel lane. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone. The expected project completion is February 2024.

• SR 78 from Potato Farm Grade South for 2 miles (Maintenance project): Crews will be closing the south bound lane on SR 78 for two miles starting at Potato Farm Grade to perform maintenance behind the guardrail. Expect MOT and flaggers to be on scene directing traffic. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.
