BELLE GLADE — On April 13, Glades Day School honored  Brian Seider as the recipient of the 2021 Buddy Sizemore Award during their Annual Parent/Trustee Meeting.

The Buddy Sizemore Award was established in 2000 to commemorate the profound impact  Sizemore had on the United States of America and Glades Day School. His legacy is honored yearly at the Annual Parent Meeting. The Buddy Sizemore Award is given to a teacher on campus who demonstrates that same passion, dedication, and service to Glades Day School. This peer-nominated award alternates between a lower school teacher and an upper school teacher.

Seider, a 1992 graduate of Glades Day School, graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Seider played football for the Panthers, earning many accolades and records as a player. After graduation, Seider taught in Kentucky and was a graduate assistant at Kentucky Wesleyan College. In 1999, he began his career at GDS as a math teacher and coach.

With a professional certification in business education and mathematics, Seider has taught Algebra 1, Geometry, senior math, and weightlifting. Coach Seider has been a part of the GDS football program for over two decades, and in 2013 was promoted to defensive coordinator. He has been a part of three out of seven football state championships as a coach. Coach Seider has been the head coach of the boys’ track and field team for 14 years and has had the honor of taking his team to state nine times.

In 2019, Coach Seider was inducted into the Kentucky Wesleyan College Hall of Fame and was invited to a special ceremony where his football jersey was retired.

Mr. and Mrs. Seider have been married for 17 years and have one daughter, Kinley, a freshman at GDS. His hobbies include football, reading, watching sports, and spending time with family.
