Guadalupe Center to host second ‘Seeing the Bigger Picture’ art show

Posted

NAPLES — Guadalupe Center will host its second student art show of the year on Oct. 26 at HobNob Kitchen & Bar in Naples featuring a curated auction exclusively sponsored by Waterside Shops.

Seeing the Bigger Picture, which features inspired artwork by students from pre-school through college, helps raise awareness and support for the center’s transformational education programs in Immokalee.

This year, students will be interpreting the styles of famous artists with Impressions on Canvas. Looking at the works of artists like van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Kahlo, O’Keefe and more, Guadalupe Center students will showcase their take on these famous works of art.

In addition to the online auction, there will also be handcrafted hors d’oeuvres and signature drinks, all with a live DJ setting the tone.

“Every guest at our inaugural Seeing the Bigger Picture event in March had a great time while learning about the lifechanging impacts that education is having on families in Immokalee,” said Guadalupe Center President and CEO Dawn Montecalvo. “So often, art is seen through the eye of the beholder, but this event asks attendees to reflect on the child, teenager or young adult holding the paintbrush.”

Seeing the Bigger Picture begins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at HobNob Kitchen & Bar, 720 Fifth Ave. South, Unit 101, in Naples. Tickets are $150 each and available online at GuadalupeCenter.org/event/seeing-the-bigger-picture-23.

Olga DeCaprio is the event chair for Seeing the Bigger Picture. Event committee members include Stephanie Antoniou, Jennifer Burch, Cassie Deifik, Vanessa Forster, Cortney Howgate and Kassie Koroghlian.

Waterside Shops is the exclusive auction sponsor. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Tammy Richelieu at TRichelieu@GuadalupeCenter.org.

Proceeds from the first Seeing the Bigger Picture event, which was held March 30 at The Collective, exceeded $50,000 to support more than 1,900 students enrolled in Guadalupe Center’s nationally accredited Early Childhood Education Program, After-school Tutoring & Summer Enrichment Program and college-preparatory Tutor Corps Program.
