The following felony cases have either been tried in a court of law or have been settled without trial and are considered closed.

• Angel Barnett received a sentence of three months and 16 days probation after pleading no contest to the charge of uttering a forged instrument. Adjudication was withheld. In March 2020, Barnett tore a check from a friend’s checkbook, wrote a check in the amount of $200 and attempted to cash it. When her friends confronted her about the theft, she begged for their forgiveness telling them she took the check to get an abortion because she was using narcotics.

• Michael McCann was sentenced to four months probation after pleading no contest to the charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCann was arrested November 2020 after he and a friend rode up to an abandoned house on their bicycles and were questioned by a deputy. The methamphetamine and paraphernalia were found in a bag on his bike.

• Marcellous Sullivan was sentenced to one year in county jail after pleading no contest to eight charges of providing false identification in an attempt to purchase a firearm. The firearms were purchased from Center Mass Gun Range, and Sullivan signed forms declaring the guns were for his use, but later, many of the weapons were either found at crime scenes in other counties or in the possession of convicted felons. Sullivan originally told law officers that several firearms had been stolen from his vehicle. Later, he admitted to purchasing the guns for other people and said he usually makes about $200 per transaction.

• Rioldan Azucey was sentenced to two years drug offender probation after pleading no contest to a possession charge. Azucey was arrested in February of 2020 a traffic stop led to the discovery of cocaine and Molly.

• Javier Benitez was sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to burglary of a conveyance and petit theft. Benitez was arrested in February 2020 after using someone else’s keys to enter that person’s vehicle. Adjudication was withheld.

• Leslie Clay was sentenced to one year probation after pleading no contest to possession of drug paraphernalia. Clay was arrested in November 2019 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and a glass pipe and scale. A charge of possession of methamphetamine was later dropped.

• Virgil Dixon was sentenced to state prison for four years and six months after pleading no contest to tampering with a witness, sale of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. Dixon was arrested in July 2019 after an undercover narcotic operation was conducted by the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force. In February 2020, he was arrested and charged with tampering with a witness after accosting a witness in his narcotics case. He approached her on the street, asked her why she turned him in and threatened to kill her.

• Quavian Dozier was sentenced to two years probation after pleading no contest to felony battery. A charge of misdemeanor battery was dropped. Dozier was arrested in June 2020 choking a woman and throwing her to the ground.

• Tara Reynolds was sentenced to six months in county jail followed by two years drug offender probation after pleading no contest to possession of Buprenorphine, driving on a suspended license, resisting an officer without violence, possession of morphine without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. Reynolds was arrested in February 2020 after a traffic stop and a search yielded the drugs. During a second traffic stop in June, 2020 Reynolds was again found in possession of narcotics. During this stop, she attempted to run from law enforcement because she did not have a valid license and told the deputy she could not go to jail because she was out on bond.

• Paula Spigelmoyer’s drug offender probation was revoked this week after she failed to remain in a treatment program and changed her place of residence without notifying her probation officer. Spigelmoyer was arrested in May 2020 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of narcotics. She was charged with possession of heroin. In July 2020, she entered a plea of no contest and was sentenced to two years probation.
