OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County Fire Rescue has four stations serving Okeechobee County.
Fire Station #1 is located at 501 NW 6th Street. This facility serves the areas of Basswood, Dewberry Gardens, Lazy 7, Four Seasons Estates, Cypress Quarters, Spot in the Sun, Platts Bluff, and the City of Okeechobee. This station houses two Paramedic Engines, two Paramedic Ambulances and several auxiliary apparatus. The station is staffed on a 24 hour basis with 8 personnel. The logistic functions of uniforms, turnout gear, equipment, and supplies are performed from this facility.
Station #3 is in Fort Drum and was used for volunteers/storage. It is currently vacant and used for promotional testing scenarios.
Station #4 is located on NE 168th Street. This facility serves the north end of the county including Country Hills Estates, Pine Creek, Indian Hammock, Fort Drum, The Prairie, Bassinger, and Florida’s Turnpike. This station houses one Paramedic Engine, one Paramedic Rescue, one brush truck, and one water tender. It is staffed with a career crew on a 24 hour basis with four personnel.
OCFR administration is housed in the The Okeechobee County Public Safety Complex, located at 707 NW 6th Street. The Emergency Management offices operate out of this facility as well. The facility contains several meetings rooms that are also used for classroom training sessions. The facility also serves as the Emergency Operations Center during large scale emergency incidents and Natural Disasters.
