OKEECHOBEE – Okeechobee County employees were honored at the April 27 meeting of the Okeechobee County Commission

Wesley White Firefighter/EMT Fire Rescue was honored for 5 years service. White was born and raised in Okeechobee. He was a volunteer for Okeechobee County Fire Rescue from 2015 until February of 2018 when he began his career as a Firefighter/EMT. Before coming to work for Okeechobee County Fire Rescue, he worked in the construction field and as a hunting guide.

10 years
Matthew Dorriety, manager of the Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center was honored for 10 years service. Dorriety was born in Alabama where he lived until his family moved to Okeechobee in 1977. Before coming to work for Okeechobee County, Dorriety worked as a ranch property manager for nearly 22 years and has over 30 years of experience working with and marketing cattle. In September of 2011, Dorriety came to work for the Okeechobee County Agri-Civic Center as an event coordinating technician. He was later promoted to the position of Agri-Civic
Center manager in January, 2013.

20 years
Stephen Todd Briney, driver engineer/paramedic was honored for 20 years service. Briney is an Okeechobee native. After graduation from high school, he went into the Army and served five years. After discharge from the Army, Briney worked various jobs and went back to school to become a firefighter. He went to work at All County Ambulance as an EMT
and came to Okeechobee Fire Rescue in February, 2003. Briney was also enlisted with the Army National Guard. During his tenure with the county he has obtained his paramedic certification, Public Safety Diver and A.S. Degree in Emergency Medical Services. In August 2021 he was promoted to driver engineer/paramedic.
