Property owners face fines for code violations

Some Okeechobee County property owners face fines up to $250 per day if they fail to clean up code violations.

Property owners face fines for code violations

OKEECHOBEE – A hearing by the Okeechobee County Code Enforcement Special Magistrate was held Sept. 19.

The 16734 N.W, 306th Street property owned by Roger Dale Egin was found to be in violation of code including a shipping container which is not allowed under county ordinance. Starting Oct. 13, a fine of $100 per day will be levied until the property is in compliance.

The 6055 N.E. Second Street property owned by James J. DeJean Jr. and Kathleen Grace DeJean, was found to be in compliance. Since violations were satisfactorily remedied before the hearing, the case was dismissed.

The 17390 N.W, 268th Street property owned by Jessica Lynn Shorey was found to be in violation. The property owner was ordered to remove an RV, all outdoor storage or junk, trash, debris and household goods. Starting Oct. 13, a fine of $100 per day will be levied until the property is in compliance.

The 903 S.E. Eighth Avenue property owned by Leonard Edouard and Tisha Edouard was found to be satisfactorily corrected before the hearing. The case was dismissed.

The 39803 N.W. 19th Avenue property owned by Rebecca Bennett was found to be in violation. Starting Nov. 17, a fine of $50 per day will be levied until the property is in compliance. The property owner was told to obtain all applicable permits and documents requested from the Building Department submitted and issued for the shed or remove the shed from the property.

The 3608 N.W. 4th Avenue property owned by Ida Harrell and Gena Villarreal was found to be in violation. Starting Nov. 17, a $100 per day fine will be levied until the property is in compliance. The property owners were told to remove all RVs off the property, mow grass and weeds, remove boards off windows and clear the property of all junk, trash, debris and household goods.

The 3670 N.W. 27th Avenue property owned by Stephen Martin was found to have been satisfactorily corrected. The case was dismissed.

The 33112 N.W. 17th Avenue property owned by David Ocon was found to be in violation of code. Beginning Oct. 13, a $100 per day fine will be levied until the property is in compliance. The property owner was told to cut grass and weeds, keep the property maintained and remove a shipping container off the property.

The 3746 N.W. 23rd Avenue property owned by Carl Matausheck was found to be in violation of code due to outdoor storage of junk, trash, debris and household goods. Beginning Oct. 13, a $100 per day fine will be levied until the property is in compliance.

The 15839 N.W. 300th Street property owned by Luiz Amorin and Weder Jose Dias was found to be in violation. The property owner was told to correct the violations by Nov. 16 or face fines of up to $250 per day. The property owner was told to submit documentation from DEP regarding wetland issues for the permit that is on hold with the building department.

The 15782 N.W. 244th Street property owned by Israel Arroyo, was found in violation of code. The property owner was told to have permits for the home issued and start all required building inspections by Nov. 16 or face fines of up to $250 per day.

The 15367 N.W. 296th Street property owned by Donald Fry and Michelle Mazerolle was found in violation. The property owners were told to have a permit for the mobile home issued, have required building inspections, and submit permits for the shed by Oct. 12 or face fines up to $250 per day.

The 14817 N.W. 304th Street property owned by Kristal Hoover and the estate of Earl Hoover was found in violation. If the property is not in compliance by Nov. 16, fines of up to $250 may be levied. Their 14869 N.W. 304th St. property was also found in violation and will also face fines up to $250 per day if code violations are not corrected by Nov. 16.

The 17284 N.W. 266th Street property owned by Carol Herbst and Robert Dean Schiller-Sulprizio was found to be in violation. The property owners were ordered to have all documents the Building Department has requested submitted to have the house and accessory structure permits issued and start all required building inspections by Nov. 16 or face fines up to $250 per day.

The 3606 S.E. 26th Street property owned by Steve Archuleta and Autumn Archuleta was found to be in violation of code. Property owners were ordered to correct the violations by Oct. 13 or face fines of $50 per day.

The 3967 N.W. 39th Avenue property owned by Larry Perkins and Florence Perkins was found to be in compliance with county code. Since the property owners satisfactorily corrected the violation prior to the hearing, the case was dismissed.

The 3145 N.W. 37th Avenue property owned by Pedro Diaz and Viviana Diaz was found to be in compliance with code. Since the property owners satisfactorily correct the violation prior to the hearing, the case was dismissed.

The 3241 N.W. 37th Avenue property owned by Eduardo Trejo and Renee Trevino was found to be in violation. Property owners were ordered to remove all violations and have vehicles registered and operable or off the property by Nov. 17 or face fines of $100 per day.

The 8862 N.W. 80th Avenue property owned by Keith Woods and Karen S. Woods was found to be in violation of code. Property owners were ordered to correct the violations, remove all outdoor storage or junk, trash, debris and household goods by Oct. 13 or face fines of $100 per day.

The 2525 N.E. 131st Lane property owned by Mark Brandel and Cynthia Brandel was found to be in compliance with code. Since the property owners satisfactorily corrected the violations prior to the hearing, the case was dismissed.

The 13850 N.E. 26th Avenue property owned by Gary Fulwider and Sharon Fulwider was found to be in compliance with code.  Since the property owners satisfactorily corrected the violations prior to the hearing, the case was dismissed.

The 8897 S.E. 59th Drive property owned by Jade Amber Lowe was found in violation of code. The property owner was ordered to correct the violations, remove abandoned vehicles and outdoor storage of junk, trash, debris and household goods by Oct. 13 or face fines of $100 per day.

The 7740 S.E. 57th Drive property owned by Felix Adan Del Cueto Jr. was found to be in violation of code. The property owner was ordered to correct violations, remove the RV from the property or show proof of the RV not being occupied by Nov. 17 or face fines of $100 per day.

The 20480 N.W. 294th Street property owned by William Rogue Alonso was found in violation of code. The property owner was ordered to correct violations, have all applicable permits and required documents from the Building Department submitted and issued and start all required building inspections by Nov. 17 or face fines of $100 per day.

The 376 N.W. 34th Terrace property owned by Julio C. Sandoval was found in violation of code. The property owner was ordered to remove all cited violations, remove inoperable vehicles, and submit applicable permits for the shed or remove the shed from the property by Oct. 13 or face fines of $100 per day.

The 16914 N.W. 276th Street property owned by Leslie Dominguez was found to be in compliance with code. Since the violations were satisfactorily corrected before the hearing, the case was dismissed.

The 1083 N.E. 16th Avenue property owned by Andrew Epps and William Butler, Trustees of New Hope Lodge No. 450, was found to be in violation of code. The property owners were ordered to submit all applicable permits to repair all windows and roof and start all required building inspections by Nov. 16 or face fines of up to $250 per day.

The 17060 N.W. 38th Avenue property owned by Jeffery Casselton and Janet Casselton was found in violation of code. Property owners were ordered to remove violations and repair skirting on mobile home with all applicable building permits and inspections by Nov. 17 or face fines of $50 per day.

The 1341 N.E. 14th Avenue property owned by Chaka Smith was found in violation of code. The property owner was ordered to remove violations, have permits submitted and issued for renovation to the home and start all required building inspections by Jan. 11, 2024 or face fines of up to $250 per day.
